It was mid-day by the time Cheryl found her way to the forked path leading to either Route 1 on the right or Route 2 on the left. Since she didn't really know her Pokémon yet, and didn't know anything about how wild Pokémon would act towards her, she decided to follow Route 1. She had heard from a few sources that Route 2 was a bit tougher to begin with, and she wanted to go to Oxyville as soon as possible because of the rumors of a legendary Pokémon that was said to hang around there. Cheryl had no intentions of trying to capture, harm, or bother any Pokémon like that, but she would love to see it if it was at all possible.
Her first step onto Route 1 ended with a crunch due to the autumn leaves littering the ground. Hues from deep brown to bright red to gold colored the fallen leaves, making the view absolutely breathtaking in color. The emerald grass showed through in spots where there were very few trees nearby. Cheryl felt a cold wind blow through the air, picking up a few leaves and depositing them in new places, but luckily she was wearing a jacket that she had conveniently donned while walking towards the fork in the road.
Walking along and enjoying the scenery made her think of her new Pokémon, which she had yet to formally meet outside of the lab and away from any other people, so she decided to stop and take care of that. Settling into a spot beneath a nearly-bare tree, she placed her bag next to her and unzipped the Poké Ball pocket to retrieve her new partner. Once she had the ball out, she enlarged it and pushed the button to release Larvitar into the grass. The little guy stood blinking on the grass for a few moments before turning to Cheryl.
"Hi there! I never introduced myself before, but I'm Cheryl." She beamed at the Pokémon, excited to meet him. He just stared, mouth turned down and arms crossed. "Er.. You're a quiet little guy, aren't you?" No reply. "..Well, alright, that's cool. I guess you don't have to talk to me, I can't understand Pokémon language anyway." Silence.
The brand new trainer shrugged. "Okay, let's go then, little guy. Do you wanna walk or do you wanna go back into your ball..?" Finally, the Larvitar reacted to her speech by beginning to walk away from her, showing that he wanted to traverse this route on foot. Cheryl scrambled to put the straps of her bag back onto her arms before following the tiny dinosaur. She caught up and made sure her strides weren't so long as to leave him behind, and the pair began to move along Route 1 together.

It was pretty quiet on the route as no pokemon or trainers seem to appear before the girl. As she continued to walk, in the distance, she can spot a lone tree in the distance. It was different than the others, by being as tall as a full grow man, it's thin, trunk leaned to the right instead of straight up and the leaves are a lavender in color with a few green berries hanging within arms length. Cheryl seem to happen upon the a Lum Berry Tree.

Cheryl thought it was strange that in a colorful season like this, there would be no wild Pokémon or other trainers around. She squinted and looked around the area, making sure she wasn't just missing something obvious, and happened to look down to where her Pokémon had been with her; he was gone! Widening her eyes, she searched wildly, hoping he hadn't fallen into a hole or something, until she heard him crying out happily. She turned back in the direction they'd been walking in to see him standing beneath a berry tree, shaking it to try to get the berries to fall down to him. With an irritated sigh, she speed-walked her way to the tree and her Pokémon.
"You shouldn't just run off like that, you know, I have to be with you so you don't get into any trouble!" Her scolding tone was lost on the Larvitar, who was not listening in the least bit. After staring at the Pokémon with annoyance for another moment, Cheryl sighed and shook her head. "You don't care, you just want the berries. Well, fine, here."
One of the berries was plucked effortlessly from the branch it hung from and handed to Larvitar, who happily took it and began to munch on it. He seemed to have manners enough to chew with his mouth closed, at least, Cheryl noted. After plucking the remaining berries and putting them into her bag, she knelt down to watch him eat, wondering once again what she should call him. "I can't just call you Larvitar forever, that would be too easy.." she mumbled. He seemed to be listening, finally, as his eyes opened and he made a noise of agreement.
"Hmm.. What about a name that reflects your color and type?" The Larvitar seemed interested in this line of thought, so Cherly kept going. "Something like.. hm.. What kind of rocks are green?" She pulled her phone out of her pocket, ensured that the Internet was connected, and tapped away on the keyboard as she searched for what she was looking for. "Here.. there's Actinolite, Chlorite, Epidote, Glauconite, Jade, Serpentine.. What about Chlorite? I like that one, I think." The dinosaur seemed to agree, giving a sharp cry. "Well, then, your name is Chlorite now! I like that. Chlorite."
Chlorite seemed excited to have a name finally, but his smile faded when he spotted something nearby that was strange. A single Poké Ball was abandoned next to a rock nearby, half-buried by leaves. Cheryl followed his gaze and decided to investigate, moving cautiously towards the capsule as though assuming it to be a booby-trap of some sort. Upon close examination, it was just a normal Poké Ball on a regular spot of earth, with no traps connected to it, booby or otherwise. She picked it up, looked it over, and promptly let it slip from her hand and strike the ground.
To everyone's surprise, a Pokémon came out of the dropped ball, appearing in a flash of red like any other Pokémon. It was a.. what was it? A green ghost thing with red-and-yellow eyes, hair, and a necklace. Cheryl's Pokédex proclaimed the Pokémon to be a Misdreavus. A Ghost-type Pokémon. Surprise, surprise. The Pokémon looked kind of sad when it appeared, but when it realized it was freed from its Poké Ball, the Misdreavus became startled.
"Drea, mis misdrea?" The ghost spoke to Chlorite, looking worried. "Larvi tar lar larvi.. Larvi-tar." Chlorite looked sad as he spoke matter-of-factly to the Misdreavus, and whatever he said made the Misdreavus sad, too. "Larvit lar larvitar, Larvitar tar," added Larvitar, which made the Misdreavus look slightly shocked for a moment. It looked at Cheryl with sad eyes, then sighed.
Cheryl wasn't certain of what was happening, but the Misdreavus suddenly shook its head and floated to retrieve its Poké Ball, which it placed in Cheryl's hand. "Drea misdrea misdreavus." Cheryl's hand closed around the ball as she stared at the Pokémon. "Are you saying you want to come with me, or am I delusional?" Misdreavus nodded solemnly, though it gave Cheryl a tight smile. "Drea mis." Still confused, Cheryl assumed she should put the ghost back into its Poké Ball, and tapped it with the button on the ball to do so. It didn't even shake to confirm the capture, it kept entirely still.
"Why was that Misdreavus left here?" she wondered aloud, wishing that Chlorite would suddenly learn to speak English and explain to her. He just shook his head sadly, took a deep breath, and stood up straight, as if to tell himself to stop being sad and start moving forward again. What the Pokémon had discussed was the Misdreavus's trainer being long-dead, Misdreavus having been sitting here for at least thirty years, and Cheryl being an able-bodied trainer that could at the very least keep Misdreavus safe for a while. Cheryl wouldn't know that, of course, but the thoughts seemed to be troubling Chlorite despite his tough outer appearance.

The branches bent slightly as it's precious fruit were plucked from it. Once all of them were taken, Cheryl had 5 Lum Berries to add to her bag. Well, minus the one that she had given to her newly named Larvitar, Chlorite.
As they began their travel once again, they happened upon, no just one, but two more Berry Trees. It would seem that they would but fully stocked with berries before they actually leave this route. This time One tree, which had light pink leaves was dotted with, what appears to be, 3 blue berries was a Chesto tree. The other was the complete opposite in color scheme. This tree had blue leaves that was dotted with 5 pink berries, which was classified as a Persim tree.

((oh my god THANK YOU <3))
Cheryl was astounded to come across yet another berry tree. No, wait, two more berry trees. How strange! She supposed it was part of the whole Autumn harvest thing, but at any rate she greedily scooped up all of the berries from these plants as well. Chlorite had been satisfied with his previous meal, so he was content to watch his trainer shove all of the berries into the pouch in her bag. Once the bag was securely drawn shut and placed back into her bag, she shouldered it and continued on, eyes peeled for more berries should they appear in her path.

Guess what appears down the path. Another berry tree! But this one seems to not be heavy with fruit. This shorter tree with curly dark green leaves seem to only have produced one tiny blue berry, a Rawst berry. Well, it was better than nothing right?

To her now much milder surprise, another berry tree loomed a short distance away. She smiled as she moved quickly towards this one as well, almost tripping over her own feet in her excitement. Chlorite got to the plant first and tried to help by shaking the thin trunk, but he was unable to knock the fruit down before Cheryl arrived. She plucked it gently from within the leaves and placed it with the others, continuing once again on her way. She felt she could already see Oxyville in the distance; however, this was impossible no matter how close she was due to the nature of the town's layout. The way the buildings were a part of the trees meant that she would see only a forest until she was within the town's boundaries.

Route 1 Completion: 5/10
It would seem that Cheryl's specialty of finding things is in overload. If finding berry tree's wasn't enough, there was an item nestled in a nearby shrub. With it's bright purple and white casing, it was easy to pick out amongst the greenery. It was a Potion. But why was it doing here? Maybe a careless traveler lost it on their own way through this route and never knew that they dropped it. Oh well. Finders Keeper's.

Cheryl greedily grabbed this item as well; who knew when she would find something like it again? Not to mention that she obviously found it before anyone else did, and what if the next person to find it decided to sell it instead of using it? At the very least, she'd have it just in case. She added it to her inventory before continuing on. Chlorite was beginning to look bored, but she didn't want to bother him to ask if he wanted to be carried or put back into his ball, and he probably didn't want either of those things anyway.

Route 1 Completion: 6/10
A few steps and a piece of white fabric was sticking out of a bush. Oh, what have we found this time? Another item? Of course it was. If she just pulled on it, she would find out that it was a Silk Scarf.

Cheryl almost didn't notice the fabric, but it was such a bright thing compared to the rest of her surroundings that she spotted it out of the corner of her eye as she passed it. Though she didn't know what she would end up doing with it, she tugged it out of the bush and crumpled it up so it would fit in her bag. Perhaps she would eventually find a Pokemon or something, though she was alright with just finding all these items.
